“Shebarim” from the ancient Shofar call

Posted on Posted in In the Classroom

The Shofar (Ram’s Horn) is an ancient form of trumpet that has survived over three thousand years of human history through its use as an instrument of war and religious ceremony in the Jewish tradition. In order to play the second part of the call, named “Shebarim,” one must be able to move between two harmonic pitches in three successive blasts. Take a minute to watch students from Lincoln Elementary School in Evanston playing this call on hose horns. [wpvideo 1OTBjbcq]
